A REFUND CAN ONLY BE GIVEN IF A STUDENT VISA IS REFUSED. NO OTHER REASON OR DOCUMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED.
If a student from outside the EU is refused 'leave to enter/remain in the UK as a student', the refund will exclude the Registration Fee (¡Ì40), the Course Deposit (¡Ì100), the CAS fee (¡Ì13) and the bank charges. The student needs to contact the school before the course starts and has to produce the original letter of refusal from the British authorities. If a student notifies the refusal after the course start date, he/she will receive a refund of course fees less the Registration Fee, the Course Deposit, the CAS fee and the fees for the corresponding number of weeks that have passed.
Refunds will be made in about 5 weeks after the Rose of York's Principal receives the necessary documents.
If a student is granted a visa for a time period less than the period they have paid to study for, the school will not refund any fees for the outstanding period. If a student has paid for accommodation, we will also deduct the accommodation finding fee (¡Ì40) and one week's accommodation fee.
Please note: Academic Year Course students: There is absolutely no refund for Academic Year Course students whose visa application is refused after their course has started. There is absolutely no refund for any student who decides to leave their Academic Year Course before the finishing date.
No refund of any course fees, registration fees, deposits, accommodation fees will be given to any student whose visa application is refused or who is refused entry to the UK, because their level of English is deemed by the relevant authorities to be lower than that stated on a Rose of York level test, or on any other entry test or certificate, which they have previously submitted to the school. Falsification of level tests will not be tolerated.
POSTPONING YOUR COURSE / TRANSFERRING A COURSE
Students requiring a visa to enter the UK may not postpone a course once a visa was granted. If you want to postpone your course we must receive notice before the starting date of your course. Notice received after the course start date will not be valid. No compensation will be given if a student arrives late or does not attend part or all of his/her course. Payments made by a student cannot be transferred to another student or another course. If a student wishes to terminate their course early, they may not transfer any funds paid for another course which was not stipulated on their enrolment letter. Compensation for any serious illnesses will be at the sole discretion of the Director. The Director's decision will be final.
CHANGING COURSES and TIMES
Small classes may be cancelled or merged with other classes due to low enrolment. We also reserve the right to change the times and teachers of classes. If you are moving from a less expensive to a more expensive time (from afternoon to morning) you must pay the difference in price between the two, regardless of how long you have left to study. If, subsequently, you change back to a cheaper time zone, you will not receive a refund of any part of this payment, but you retain the option to move back to the more expensive zone. If a student decides to change course times he/she must buy the book of the new class.
ATTENDANCE
In order to get a School Certificate at the end of their course, student's attendance must be at least 80%.
Please note that a lateness policy apply. If you are more than 15 minutes late you are not allowed to enter the class, and therefore you will be marked absent for that part of the lesson. If you leave more than 15 minutes early, you will also be marked absent for that part of the lesson.
Students on a General Student Visa:
Students on a General Student Visa: Rose of York will automatically report a student who misses 10 consecutive contacts without a doctor¡¯s note. Sickness can only be accepted as an excuse for absence with the production of a doctor¡¯s letter or certificate.
Rose of York will inform the Home Office if a student fails to turn up for their course or leaves their course earlier than the course termination date.
Rose of York must inform UKBA of any student who fails to turn up for their course or leaves their course earlier than the course termination date.
Students under 18: If you are under 18 and are going to be late for more than 15 minutes or absent from school you must inform the school immediately either by phone 02075809888 or by email enquiries@roseofyork.co.uk
A member of staff will go to the classroom at the beginning of the lesson to ensure all students under 18 have arrived safely at school. In the event that a student is not there, we will phone them immediately so that we can speak to them and make sure they are safe. If they are staying with a host family then the family will be contacted immediately as well.
DISCIPLINE
Rose of York reserves the right to expel students in case of flagrant or continued misconduct and/or disruptive behaviour with no refund of the fees. There will be NO REFUND of fees to expelled students. This policy is FINAL.
HOLIDAYS
Holidays must be booked at least one week in advance and for a full week starting on a Monday (always Monday to Friday). Students who wish to book a holiday with less than one week's notice may do so at the school's discretion. Holidays may not be taken for a week that has already started or carried over from one course to another. If a student would like to cancel a holiday, the above booking rules apply (i.e. it should be cancelled one week in advance). If a student attends class for any lesson during a week for when they have booked holiday, they automatically forfeit that week's holiday and their records are completed as present/absent for that week.
For authorised course holidays please ask in reception. These are not negotiable and cannot be changed. There are no holidays for courses lasting less than 9 weeks. The school closes for 2 weeks over Christmas. Students do not study for this period, although it is not included in the 'course holiday'. Classes start on Monday except for when there is a Bank Holiday on Monday. In that case they will start on Tuesday. There is no reduction in the course fees where a course includes a Bank holiday.
